What are Dim Sums and Bao

Dim Sums and Baos are extremely popular in the Far East and it is eaten generally during breakfast/iunch hours. Dim sum is literally translated to mean “Touch the Heart” and is associated to the Cantonese phrase "Yum Cha" means “to drink tea.” Taken together, dim sum is a meal of small dishes served with tea comprised of a collection of savoury and sweet tastes from a variety of steamed and fried buns, dumplings and rolls. In the Far East, you will see the style of eating or restaurant experience in which small plates of these Dim Sum delicacies are presented on mobile carts to seated patrons.

Bao Buns (pronounced “bow”) also known as a ‘steamed buns’ or ‘baozi’ 包子, are a delicious, warm, fluffy treat of stuffing wrapped inside a delicate, white dough. Made with a mix of flour, yeast, sugar, baking powder, milk and oil, the bao buns are slightly lighter than its closely related cousin, the dumpling. It is a type of filled bun or bread-like dumpling that originates from Chinese cuisines.

Renowned for being light and fluffy, the perfect bao should be light, round and soft.

Notice:

Dim Sums and Baos Buns ideally must be consumed once its out the steamer or fryer as the pastry gets slightly denser once its cooled down too long. We have used the most optimum catering containers that we think will hold the heat for a while therefore we would not recommend it if you are too far away from us. We are however able to freeze them for you so you can steam them at home in your own convenience. Please do let us know if you would prefer this option instead.

Every Dims Sum and Bao Buns are only made ready and steamed when pre-ordered unlike those big Dim Sum houses where its

all steaming and ready to go when ordered. In light of this, all orders must be made at least a day before.
